Hojiblanca (2024/2025 new harvest) is the mildest premium olive oil in the range of Oro Bailen, one of the world's most awarded olive oil producers (99 points score in Flos Olei, the international olive oil guide) based in Jaen, Andalusia and run by José Galvez, after taking over the family business. This ultra-low acidity (0.1%) single estate premium extra virgin olive oil is typically produced in October during the first 2 weeks of harvest. It is cold-extracted within 2 hours and filtered to preserve its taste and quality throughout its shelf life. It is a mild fruity and very balanced extra virgin olive oil with aromas of artichokes, tomatoes and apples and hints of fennel and peppermint. Its delicate profile makes it particularly versatile. We recommend it for salads, seafood and fish. The Oro Bailen Hojiblanca extra virgin olive oil has a high polyphenol content of 409 mg/kg.
The Guild of Fine foods awarded the Oro Bailen hojiblanca extra virgin olive oil 2 Great Taste stars in 2023. Here are some of the judges comments:
"A vibrant olive oil with a deep grassy aroma and pleasing mouthfeel. We enjoyed the bitterness of the fruit and the long finish with a slight pungent afterglow....A verdant green shade matches a wonderfully fresh, zesty, grassy aroma. The creaminess on the palate permits delightful, gentle fruitiness to come through, and the bitterness too is appealingly gentle, the pepper firm but wonderfully in balance. A gorgeous, versatile oil with wonderful freshness and a near-perfect arc of taste and flavour. Warm, but gentle persistence of fruit as of spice rounds off a delightful product.....This olive oil has aa vibrant green colour and a heady, fresh nose. On the palate it is grassy, green and with a pleasant acidity and a peppery finish. The judges hoped to find more depth and complexity of flavour....A glossy oil with a beautiful verdant tone and freshness on the nose. The initial mouth filling mild, grassy, fresh notes segue to reveal quite a kick of pepper at the back of the throat (no bad thing)."
